We are currently looking for a social worker to work full-time or part-time in the Evaluation and Orientation Department of the Batshaw Youth and Family Centers.

Person who performs conceptual, counselling, consulting, updating, analytical activities and evaluations in one or several social programs. Must have an undergraduate degree in social work.

GENERAL FUNCTIONS
• To act as an Evaluation-Orientation (EO) worker in relation to section 32 of the Youth Protection Act. When required, to perform any other duties under Section 32;
• To carry out the provisions of the Youth Protection Act in accordance with the Manuel de référence sur la Loi sur la protection de la jeunesse, the Harvey Protocols and all Batshaw’s Policies and Procedures;
• To assess, within required timeframes, the situation of children and families signaled to Youth Protection to permit the DYP to determine whether or not security or development is compromised in accordance with the factors of analysis contained in article 38.2 of the Youth Protection Act;
• To determine the degree of risk and, when appropriate, to determine the orientation;
• To intervene in crisis situations; to provide on-going practical and psycho-social supports, to promote clients problem solving; to collaborate with internal and community resources which further the same goals;
• To assess and assist in selecting the best alternative when a child cannot be maintained in his natural milieu and to prepare them for the placement of children outside the family unit, and/or permanency planning where required;
• To collaborate with other Batshaw departments and MHSS establishments as required in the performance of their responsibilities;
• To participate in meetings of the Youth Protection Department;
• To represent the Department of Youth Protection when requested on various internal or external committees;
• To perform other related duties as requested by the immediate supervisor.

Our Mission
The mission of Batshaw Youth and Family Centres (Batshaw Centres), established under the Act Respecting Health Services and Social Services, is summarized as follows:
to provide psychosocial, rehabilitation and social integration services;
to ensure the provision of services related to child placement, adoption, adoption disclosure, reunification, expertise to the Superior Court and mediation.

Services are provided primarily in accordance with the Youth Protection Act, the Youth Criminal Justice Act and An Act Respecting Health Services and Social Services regarding the placement of children and youths.

Batshaw Centres services are provided to the residents of the island of Montreal who wish to receive them in English and to the Jewish community of Montreal, in either English or French.

Batshaw Centres also offers rehabilitation placement services to youths from all regions of Quebec who require them in English.

Requirements :

- Must have an undergraduate degree in Social Work or a Master's degree in Social Work ;
- Member of Ordre professionnel des travailleurs sociaux du Québec ;
* If an employee uses this reserved title, she/he must provide the employer annually with proof that she/he is a member of the Ordre professionnel des travailleurs sociaux du Québec.
- Must be bilingual (very functional English) ;
- Must have access to a car;
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Youth Protection Act, Health and Social Service Act and Harvey Protocols, an asset ;
- Demonstrated ability to work with families with an understanding of a systemic approach to interventions ; psycho-social assessment skills and ability to intervene in crisis situation, an asset ;
- Experience in the evaluation of the situation of children reported to Youth Protection, an asset ;
- Consistently demonstrated ability and willingness to work effectively within required timeframes.
